Let Eisenhower help you

I came across a valuable tool some time ago.
It's something called the Eisenhower decision matrix, and
personal development guru Stephen Covey also used a version of it.
The matrix is simple in setup, but takes an investment of time to
implement in your life and career.
Here's the big picture...
Things in our lives generally fall into 4 main categories:
- Important AND urgent
- Important, but not urgent
- Urgent, but not important
- Not urgent, and not important
The goal is to recognize into which category (quadrant) the things
in your lives fall, and then shift focus onto the proper quadrant.
Here are some examples of how to use the categories...
- Important AND urgent:
There is no escaping a family emergency, like your wife took your
child to the emergency room. That is an important and urgent
event, and it boils to the top.
However, many of the events in that important AND urgent quadrant
can be dealt with before they become an emergency, like a deadline
for an important project.
- Important, but not urgent:
Important but not urgent category things are where we should be
spending our time, if we can. For instance, these would include
family time, recreation, exercise, and building a side business.
- Urgent but not important:
This category includes the things like someone else's favors,
e-mails, and text messages that seem urgent, but have little
importance. This means we need to be aware of these events, and
try to reduce the urgency, if possible, in order to spend more time
in the quadrant of our choice.
- Not urgent, and not important:
This category includes those things like social network time, or tv
watching. We need to try and minimize the time spent in this
category, and do more of the things that are important.
We use this Eisenhower decision matrix to the best of our ability
at our lab.
Most of the work for our clients is in the "Important AND
Urgent" quadrant. Especially if the client is on a tight
timetable, and needs results fast.
We state an expected delivery date for results, and then do our
best to stick to it and honor our word.
Most orders are completed within 10 business days. If a client has
a tight timetable, we are happy to speed up the testing process to
7 days.
Often, results are done earlier. The old "underpromise and
overdeliver" principle.
That sometimes means that we have work a weekend or two.
But, if our clients have an urgent need for results, we can provide
them.
We work with many other interesting "tools" here in the
Global Energy Lab, in order to help you discover whether or not you
might have frac sand.
