Which programming language I'm studying now (and why)

Published: Tue, 02/11/14

Right now I'm learning how to program in C.

Yeah, I like to kick it "old school."

I have never really learned programming very well, and I determined
that in 2014 I'm going to become an intermediate programmer.

So why the C language?

It dates back to the early 1970s when a couple guys wrote it to
create a UNIX computer at Bell Labs.

C is tight, concise, and can be used across all sorts of computer
platforms. Even your calculator can probably run the C language.

Here's what's really cool...

Most of the commonly used programming languages today are actually
built on the original C programming platform.

In a way, the programs and websites that you use every day are
kind of like "the children" of the C language.

Like Children of the Corn.

Well * actually * now that I think about it, there are absolutely
no similarities at all to the movie.

Whatsoever.

Anyhoo...

Like you might want to learn Latin to build a foundation before
studying French, Spanish, or Portuguese, learning C helps to build
that programming foundation.

I'd like to someday build cloud based Web applications for
clients, and to do that I need to learn how to program in PHP.
I'm laying the foundation today (tonight actually, after the
kids go to bed) by writing code in the C language.

That's my way too many cents.

This I do know for sure.

There are certain "programs" that I - ok, we - are very
good at executing right now.

* Laboratory testing for frac sand to exacting API specs?
Excellent program.

* API testing for drilling grade barite? Hoorah barite.

* Helping you find your path to success by superbly executing our
(expensive) monthly newsletter Frac Sand Fortunes? Oh yeah.

"programs" with us, go here:
