Systems, models, and tools for and by smart people (free PDF)

Much of life can be understood by developing mental models and systems.

In fact, one of my heroes, legendary investor Charlie Munger has around 100 mental models in his head that he uses to interpret events and the world around... it's his mental latticework.

Berkshire Hathaway Vice Chairman, Charlie Munger, says this:

"What is elementary, worldly wisdom? Well, the first rule is that you can’t really know anything if you just remember isolated facts and try and bang ‘em back. If the facts don’t hang together on a latticework of theory, you don’t have them in a usable form. You’ve got to have models in your head. And you’ve got to array your experience — both vicarious and direct — on this latticework of models."

-Charlie Munger, in a 1994 speech to business students

Now, even though Mr. Munger says that he uses about 100 different mental models to “array his experience,” I’m still working on building all those models in my head!

What I have also done is try to come up with systems and loops that help me in business and in life. I’ve compiled some of these methods in a new guide that you can download now in PDF form, absolutely free and without any obligation (you can go download it right now).

The guide contains the above wisdom from Mr. Munger, as well as guidelines for better living from Munger’s hero, Benjamin Franklin. It also contains the “Eisenhower Box” for time management, the Colonel John Boyd “OODA Loop” for decision making and taking action. The guide has much more, you have to see it for yourself.

Oh yeah, the Benjamin Franklin decision making method is in there too.
